When making fillings, crowns, inlays, onlays, bridges and dentures, our aim is to avoid using metal and to save your own dental material as widely as possible. At the surgery, we do not use air rotors / dental turbines as the speeds of these burs put too much of a strain on the dental pulp.

Why minimum invasive impact?
The less of a tooth is drilled away, the less straining it is on that tooth. Plus, it (significantly) reduces the risk of fractures and root canal treatments.
Why no air rotor?
Air rotors are widely used in dental practice. Air rotors are drills whereby the bur performs 400,000 rotations per minute. They are efficient, but put the teeth (and the dental pulp in particular) under a lot of strain. The risk of chronic infection or even necrosis of the tooth pulp is higher. This is why our surgery uses a maximum rpm or 200,000/min.
Why metal-free?
Metals and dental materials can also affect the body. Not just amalgam, but also materials such as gold, indium, palladium, titanium, etc. Metals may have a toxic effect, cause allergies and even serve as an antenna. Whether or not this will adversely affect a patient largely depends on his constitution, eating pattern, living environment, etc. From a preventive angle, it is always advisable to avoid using metals. We draw up treatment plans further to a comprehensive dental history of the patient and in close concertation with experienced experts who also look at the patient’s physical aspects so as to arrive at responsible decisions.
